Man Appears On Multiple Sex Charges

NORTH SHORE CITY

A 20 year old apprentice mechanic of Rothesay Bay has appeared in the North Shore District Court on multiple sex charges involving teenage girls.

Detective Senior Sergeant Kim Libby Officer in Charge of the North Shore CIB says Cameron John LEEF was arrested yesterday after an investigation into alleged sexual attacks on three girls all of whom are under 16 years of age.

LEEF has appeared on six charges. They include:


• Sexual Violation by Rape [2]
• Sexual Connection with girl under 16 years of age [3]
• Sexual Violation by Unlawful Sexual Connection [1]

The maximum penalty for the two multiple offences is 20 years. The penalty for the sole charge is 10 years. No plea has been entered.

LEEF has been remanded in custody until Monday 6 October 2008. Police have not ruled out the possibility of further charges.

"The three victims knew the offender," Mr Libby said.
