Robbery & Assault in Levin

Levin Police are investigating a Robbery that occurred on Tuesday 21st October at about 6.15 pm, at the Public Toilets on Balance Street, Shannon. A forty year old Shannon woman was stabbed in her thigh after been threatened by a female offender, armed with a pocket knife, who demanded money from her. The offender was described as a chubby Maori woman in her late teens or early twenty's, with short black hair, wearing a black top and black jeans.
The victim had been out walking her dog at the time, and during the course of the robbery the victims' dog leapt to the defence of its master and bit the offender on her leg. The offender fled the scene, after stabbing the victim with her pocket knife and taking a sum of money and some medication from the victims' bag.
The victim was taken to Palmerston North hospital and treated for a single stab wound which required stitches.
Police are seeking any information that can lead to the identity of the offender and calls can be directed to the Levin CIB.
