Community grants announced

Recipients of the Turangi/Tongariro Community Grants for 2008/09 have been announced by the Turangi/Tongariro Community Board.

The recipients are local voluntary organisations which contribute to building strong communities by contributing to the social, economic, cultural and environmental wellbeing of the community.

Grants have been awarded to: Tongariro National Trout Centre Society Inc ($5000); Turangi/Omori Croquet Club ($2000); Turangi Aero Club ($2500); Turangi/Tongariro Sports Foundation ($2000); Turangi Citizens Advice Bureau ($1000); Creative Taupo ($1000); Growing Through Grief Taupo/Turangi ($2000); Southern Lake Taupo Health Trust ($1500); Turangi Foodbank ($5710); Turangi Squash Racquets Club ($5000); and Tuwharetoa Polocrosse ($10,000).

Recipients are required to submit a report at the end of the financial year indentifying the outcome of the project or service for which the grant was used.
