Fatal House Fire in Counties Manukau District, 2:25am

Police and Fire Service personnel will today be examining the scene of a fatal house fire in Highland Park in an attempt to find the cause.
The blaze was reported just before 2.30 am and a body was discovered by fire fighters entering the house. The body is thought to be that of the elderly woman occupier.
A further media release can be expected later today when the identity of the deceased has been confirmed and next of kin notified.

CORRECTION
The house fire referred to in an earlier release was reported to Fire just before midnight last night.
The discovery of a body was reported to Police at the time stated; 0224hrs today.
