Arrest made in relation to infant death in Northland District, 10:00am 28 Dec 2008

Police have arrested overnight a 21-year-old man in relation to the death of a 16-month-old Kerikeri boy who died in Starship Hospital, Auckland on Tuesday December 23.

The 21-year-old beneficiary will be appearing in the Kaikohe District Court tomorrow (Monday December 29) facing a charge of the murder of Riley Justin OSBORNE and a number of drug-related charges.
The post mortem results show that Riley died as a result of significant head injuries.
Police would like to thank members of the public and the members of the extended family who have assisted in the investigation.
A Police team continues to work through the holiday period to resolve this matter.
The extended family of Riley has requested that their privacy be respected.
