QUEENSTOWN

 At 7.30pm on Monday the 5th of January 2009, Police were notified of a crash between a jet boat and a jet ski on the Kawarau River near Frankton.
Police, Fire and Ambulance are in attendance.
Two people are in a serious condition, ambulance service is in attendance.
Police and search and rescue services have been activated and are searching the river by jet boat and helicopter to try and locate the two missing people.
A further update will be made at 2100hrs.

At 7.30pm on Monday the 5th of January 2009, Police were notified of a crash between a jet boat and a jet ski on the Kawarau River near Frankton.
Police, Fire and Ambulance are in attendance.
Two people are in a serious condition, in Frankton Hospital. Details of the people are not available at this stage.
Police and search and rescue services are continuing their search of the Kawarau River by jet boat and helicopter to try and locate the two missing people.
The jet boat and Jet Ski have been recovered, and are on the river bank.
A further update will be made at 2200hrs.

Search and rescue ------ Queenstown ----- Update 4
At 7.30pm on Monday the 5th of January 2009, Police were notified of a crash between a jet boat and a jet ski on the Kawarau River near Frankton.
Two people are in a serious condition. One male and one female have been flown to Dunedin Hospital.
A helicopter attempt to use thermal imaging and night vision equipment to continue the search but this was unsuccessful.
Police and search and rescue have been stood down for the night.
The Police dive squad will be assisting in the search in the morning.
The search will continue early morning on the 6th of January.
The Kawarau River, from the Kawarau River Bridge at Frankton, will be closed to all but commercial uses from first light on the 6th of January 2009 until further notice.
No details of the injured or missing person are available until tomorrow.
Senior Sergeant Fookes of Queenstown Police will be the Officer in Charge of the Search.
A further update will be made tomorrow morning.
