At about 10:20 am this morning in the vicinity of 390 Pirongia Road there was a motor vehicle collision involved two cars.

Police received reports that there were two persons trapped in the collision.

One person has been pronounced dead at the scene and several others suffered injuries.

Pirongia Road is closed at the crash site and diversions are in place at Pirongia and Patarangi Roads.
