On Wednesday 21st January 2009 a house in Kabul Street Wairoa, was extensively damaged by fire. The cause of the fire unknown.
On Saturday 24th January 2009, at about 1045am, a Mclean Street house was extensively damaged by fire, which was also treated as a suspicious fire.
On Saturday 24 January 2009 at about 3.00pm, a Marine Parade house was also extensively damaged by fire, also treated as suspicious.
At about 9.00pm Saturday 24 January 2009, Wairoa Police arrested and charged a 17 year old female with charges of Burglary and Arson relating to the fires.
The female has been held in Police custody and will appear in the Gisborne District Court on Monday morning 26th January 2009
