Franklin District Council is currently working on plans for the redesign of Seddon Park. The park, located on the corner of West and Seddon Streets, Pukekohe is undergoing a major redevelopment to make it more accessible for users.

A concept plan has been developed that integrates the park with the new streetscape of Pukekohe, with public feedback being sought.

Franklin District Council’s Open Spaces Unit Manager Greg Lowe says Council has worked to ensure the new design retains the character and distinctive plantings of the present park.
“Redesigning Seddon Park will encourage more users and make it a great community asset. It has many features of historical significance that are being retained and enhanced through the new design, including the Judas tree, plaque and Seddon Memorial Lantern.”

Work on Seddon Park connects to and is part-funded by the Pukekohe Town Centre Upgrade project.
“Seddon Park is the main green space for Pukekohe’s town centre so is an important amenity for the District. Through the Pukekohe Town Centre Upgrade we’ve been able to redesign the park to meet the needs of park users,” Mr Lowe says.
“We’re holding an open day at Seddon Park on Friday 27 February from 11.00am – 2.00pm and encourage you to visit us to see the concept plan and tell us your thoughts.”
The concept plan features the repositioning of the rose garden, with many of the existing roses retained. Additional roses, including climbing roses, will also be planted, along with many other plant varieties.
