Police investigate serious assault in Stratford

Police are investigating an assault in Stratford which has left a man with serious abdominal injuries.

The assault occurred some time between 8:15pm and 9:15pm on Thursday, 12 February 2009 on the corner of Pembroke and Brecon Roads, Stratford.

The victim, who is a 20-year-old male Stratford resident, was found by a passer-by. He was taken to hospital where he remains and his current condition is described as comfortable.

Investigating officers have information that someone involved in this incident was riding a motorbike which has been described as a small black and red sports motorbike. The motorbike was seen in the area prior to the assault occurring and shortly after.

Police are still trying to establish motive but believe it was a targeted, rather than random, attack. For operational reasons no further information is being released at this stage.

Police are appealing for information from members of the public who may have been in the Pembroke Road or Brecon Road areas on the evening of Thursday, 12 February, and who may have seen any other people in this area or the motorbike as described.
