Fatal crash in Southern District, 5:15pm 21 Feb 2009

At about 1.40 pm on Saturday the 21st February Police were called to a 2 vehicle crash on State Highway 1 between Greenpoint and Bluff, 20 km south of Invercargill.
A Ford laser driven by an 84 year old female has come out of a driveway onto the highway and has collided with a Toyota Ute.
As a result of the crash the female has been killed.
The occupants of the Toyota are injured.
Local police assisted by the Serious Crash Unit and other staff are investigating.
At this early stage the cause of the crash is unknown. At the time of the crash it was overcast with light rain.
Police will be releasing the name of the victim once relatives have been advised.
