Bledisloe Park users are being asked to get involved in the future development of this central Pukekohe recreation area.

The Draft Bledisloe Park Reserve Management Plan is now out for consultation, with submissions from the public being sought. The draft plan covers all aspects of the park’s future, from the day-to-day management to proposed developments.

Franklin District Council GM Community Facilities Ian Alexander says one of the major aspects of the draft plan includes a proposal to build a new soccer and cricket clubroom on the site.

“In this draft plan, the recommendation is that a new multi-purpose clubroom is built, which in time will replace the existing soccer and cricket clubrooms. The fields will also be reconfigured and upgraded, which would increase access for more users.”

“This is a highly used park for both sports and recreational users. We hope the public get involved and give us their feedback on the future of this important space.”

Other proposals include extending the walkway around the park, improving access into the park from the surrounding roads and enhancing the green spaces. The plan also includes the protection and preservation of a significant stand of totara trees.

The public can view and comment on the Draft Bledisloe Park Reserve Management Plan at Council service centres and libraries or view the plans and fill out a submission form online at www.franklin.govt.nz. Submissions close 12 May.
