Charity begins at home for health

Two large healthcare providers, St John and Access Homehealth, have agreed to work closely together to improve health outcomes for New Zealanders.

St John Chief Executive Jaimes Wood and Access Homehealth Chief Executive Officer Graeme Titcombe signed a Memorandum of Understanding today, formalising the agreement.

“St John and Access Homehealth are both focused on care for communities,” Mr Wood says. “We will collaborate on projects that will enhance our services for the benefit of patients and members of the public.”

“St John and Access Homehealth are both charitable organisations, with strong links to local communities,” Mr Titcombe says. “By working together, we will be even better placed to serve those communities.”

Areas of future collaboration include but are not limited to training, property and resource use, relationships with the Crown, and home help and care services.

Both organisations have strong links to the Ministry of Health, ACC and District Health Boards. St John is New Zealand’s largest ambulance service and a significant provider of community services.

Access Homehealth is one of the country’s largest home healthcare providers, with branches nationwide. Access Homehealth is a subsidiary organisation of Rural Women New Zealand, and provides home help and district nursing services across New Zealand.

St John has been in New Zealand for more than 120 years, and Access Homehealth for more than 80 years. These historical links mean our organisations are well placed to serve the people of New Zealand.
