New Zealand surf lifesaving selectors have placed a swimming emphasis on their 12-strong team named to compete in July's World Games in Taiwan.
Titahi Bay pair Steven Kent and John Gatfield have starred at various swimming championships over the last year and are both included, along with Lyall Bay swim specialists Georgia Hind and Samantha Lee.
Incumbent New Zealand captain Glenn Anderson will again lead his country, joined by his New Plymouth Old Boys teammate Ayla Dunlop-Barrett.
Midway trio Mike Janes, Matt Sutton and Madison Boon all performed with distinction at last week's national surf lifesaving championships, as did Muriwai's Jess Parr, while Westshore's Daniel Moodie is also included.
Moodie, 21, proved impossible to leave out after winning his fourth consecutive New Zealand ironman title on Sunday, adding the prestigious surf race for good measure.
Fellow Westshore club member Nikki Cox rounds out the team.
The event is heavily slanted towards swimming and craft ability, with no beach sprinting or beach flags component at the World Games.
Each team will have three athletes in each individual event, with all competing for points.
New Zealand will be coached by Scott Bartlett and his assistant, Cory Hutchings.
