Emergency services are currently attending an accident between a truck and car on SH2 just south of Eketuhuna. One person has died but no further details at this stage.
The road has been closed and a diversion is in place. Northbound traffic is being diverted along South Road number 1. South bound traffic will be diverted through Eketahuna township.
Further details will be provided when more information comes to hand.

At approximately 4:49 am on Saturday the 14th July 2007, Police Fire and Ambulance attended a Fatal Accident on State Highway 2, 3 kilometres south of Eketahuna.
There were two vehicles involved, a light courier truck and a passenger car.
The driver of the north bound passenger car died as a result of his injuries at the scene.
The driver of the south bound light courier truck was uninjured, but was taken to the Masterton Hospital as a precautionary measure.
The Palmerston North Serious Crash unit attended the scene and enquiries are continuing as to the cause of the accident.
The State Highway was closed for approximately 4 hours.
