The new look, bright blue bus - the Taupo Connector - has arrived and is now on the road.

Taupo District Council and Environment Waikato recently undertook a review of the local bus service – the Taupo Connector – incorporating feedback from various groups and bus users.

One of the outcomes of this review was the introduction of a new and improved bus route in February 2009 which caters for residents in Waitahanui, Five Mile Bay and Acacia Bay. Stage two of the upgrade included getting a new, more accessible bus which would travel around Taupo streets a little easier and better accommodate pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Councillor Andrew Welch said “the bright blue, eye-catching design means you can’t miss it – why not try catching the bus into town to go shopping instead of driving,” he says.

Council acknowledged the importance of keeping the service affordable so the fares have remained the same as before.

Taupo Connector timetables which list times and bus stop locations are available from Taupo District Council offices or go to www.busit.co.nz  or freephone 0800 4 BUSLINE for more information.
