Jump onto your browser and check out the new high resolution satellite imaging of Hamilton on Google Maps.

Communication manager Sarah Bette says the high resolution colour maps of the city have just been uploaded by Google and look fantastic. The images are all so clear.

“You can zoom right in to the point of seeing the shadows of people walking on the pavement. Previously Hamilton on Google had only very high level images available. Now thanks to an agreement with Google, Council has provided its high resolution GIS maps to ensure the city appears crystal clear. A good example is the patterns of the paving in Civic Square in the central city by Garden Place.”

Google Maps is a web mapping service application and technology provided by Google, free (for non-commercial use). It offers street maps, and the ability to get directions by car or walking and an urban business locator.
