DARFIELD

On a Toyota Hilux utility vehicle was stolen from a farm property near Darfield.

William Stewart had been seen driving this vehicle.

On Wednesday April the utility vehicle was found in blackberry at Buccleugh on SH 77 and in the vehicle was a considerable amount of property that did not belong to the owner of the vehicle.

Amongst those items were two large knives that we believe were stolen by the occupant of the stolen utility.

The picture attached shows the knives and the Police would like to hear from the owner of those knives as it may lead to identifying other crimes.

Also found in the utility was a plastic cake tin with an orange coloured cake in it. This cake and container may have been stolen from someone's pantry or may in fact have been given to the offender for the vehicle.

If anyone recognises the cake and container can they please also contact the police, Detective Sergeant Jennifer Hooke at Ashburton Police on telephone 03 307 8400 or Detective Sergeant Nigel Hughes at Christchurch central Police Station on 363 7400.
