The Queenstown Lakes District Council has approved entering into a contract for building services with Asplundh, known as contract 806, QLDC parks manager Gordon Bailey said.

The contract, which includes services such as playground safety inspections, building repairs and street furniture installation, had been carried out as a negotiated interim agreement for the last year, with the same company.

“The Council has now re-tendered this contract in order to award a longer term contract,” Mr Bailey said.
In total five tenders were received and evaluated by a panel with non price attributes contributing 65% of the evaluation and price 35%.

“With a contract like this you need to assess experience, track record, resource, technical skills and plant and equipment,” Mr Bailey said.

The contract was for a four-year minimum period and a maximum of nine-years, subject to performance.
At the meeting of full Council, yesterday, the Council voted to approve the contract.

As of July 2008, Asplundh was awarded the contracts for parks and reserve maintenance and tree services.
