Police car stolen and crashed in Waihi Beach

At about 1030pm a lone Waihi Police officer was called to a disturbance at Waihi Beach. Whislt out of his Police vehicle arresting an offender, a male from the crowd has stolen the officers patrol car. He has then driven the Police vehicle approximatley 75 metres before crashing into a fence. Nil persons were injured, the patrol vehicle and fence sustained moderate damage. Two persons are assisting the Police with their enquiries.
