With nearly 20 years experience developing and implementing people management solutions for larger organisations, PayGlobal has just launched PayGlobal Express, aimed specifically at SMEs (small to medium sized businesses).

Already piloted in two Christchurch sites with excellent results, PayGlobal Express offers any, or a combination, of Payroll, HR Self Service and Time and Attendance.

Hugh Martyn, CEO of PayGlobal, said that in the past the PayGlobal solutions were too complex for some middle to smaller-sized companies employing between 50 and 200 employees.

“With PayGlobal Express you are basically getting the power of a PayGlobal’s solution, but because of the defined configuration, there is a subsequent reduction in the implementation costs. PayGlobal Express can also grow with the business with additional modules and configurations.

“In the current tough economic environment, having a payroll and reporting system working well in a business can add considerably to the bottom line, helping with efficiencies and assisting with the lowering of costs,” he said.

Michael Moore, from Rannerdale Veterans Hospital and Home Ltd, one of the pilot sites, said that even though he was not a computer person himself, he had found PayGlobal Express very easy to use and user-friendly.

“While we are not a large organisation, with 65 employees, our payroll information is quite complicated. We are a 24 hour, seven day operation with different rosters, pay rates, penal rates etc .. Previously our payroll was processed off-site but proved unsatisfactory as much of the preparation still had to be done in-house and there were problems with communication and resolution of problems with the other company.

“We had had experience with PayGlobal in the past so went back to them. We have just completed our third payroll in six weeks and not only are we very pleased with the result, but we have had very favourable comments from staff who have remarked about the clarity of the information contained on the pay slips. It’s the same information as before, just presented in a better way,” he said.

Rannerdale has not implemented the time and attendance module yet as they decided to be very thorough in the inputting of this information before utilising the module.

“Already we are saving up to half a day using PayGlobal Express compared with our last provider. PayGlobal staff spent four days over a three-week period undertaking installation and training, while the manuals they provided are very thorough and the Help Desk, when required, is extremely good,” he said.

The other pilot site was at Opzeeland Transport, a company with a similar number of employees as Rannerdale, but with completely different payroll requirements.

Marianne Wright, Administration and Finance Manager, said that their payroll requirements covered both wage and salary workers. “We are a customer driven organisation, therefore our drivers work irregular hours. We still use manual time sheets and even though our cut off is Tuesday night, we pay on Wednesday morning. It is a very short turnaround,” she said.

Opzeeland’s used an old DOS system before selecting PayGlobal Express.

“We needed a system that would take us into the future and we wanted to associate with a company that was well tried and trusted in the marketplace – we basically wanted to piggyback off the experience and knowledge of many other users.

“We looked at three systems, but PayGlobal Express was a cut above the others. It had a good feel about it. It was very comprehensive, it had great functionality and reporting systems and we could see how it would future-proof our changing requirements. Down the track we will add other modules,” she said.

Opzeeland’s has had two pay runs utilising PayGlobal Express and the results have been excellent.

“At this stage we have not noticed any time saving, but we know that will happen. PayGlobal Express certainly requires good inputting, but it gives us so much more information than previous.

“Implementation and training went very smoothly and there is good back up both from the manual and help desk. In a month or two, once we get more familiar with PayGlobal Express, I can see the wisdom in having some more training to better utilise the many features available in the system,” she said.
