Taupo District Council has lifted the notice to boil water and given the all clear for Waihaha residents to resume drinking water from the tap.

Earlier this week a routine monitoring process detected a presence of E Coli bacteria in the Waihaha water supply.

The Council has now rectified the issues and the water is again safe for human consumption.

“Thank you to all Waihaha residents for their cooperation and patience during this time,” said Council’s Group Manager Infrastructure and Parks, Ted Anderson.

Council staff will be carrying out a letter drop to advise affected residents this afternoon (Friday 19 June 2009) that their water is once again safe to drink.

Waihaha is situated on the western side of Lake Taupo, south of Kinloch.
