On July 11, Colin and Biddy Fraser-Davies will take their tourist enterprise and Eketahuna to the nation when they star on Television One’s flagship rural programme ‘Country Calendar’.

Starring too will be Biddy’s pedigree jersey cows, Molly, Emily, Sally and Daisy, providers of the homemade Cwmglyn Cheese for which their articulate and larger than life owner is now increasingly well known.

Add in longtime train enthusiast Colin and his model railway empire - complete with interactive systems for kids to play with - housed in a tennis court sized shed. There is also a shop specialising in model railway equipment – among other things.

The story of their unusual mix of activities – including the talented Biddy’s enamel artwork – how they arrived at Eketahuna and their previous life in the corporate sector will make for an entertaining 30 minutes.

The Country Calendar team filmed at Cwmglyn over four days; so in a taste of things to come expect to see scanning of the in-calf Sally, Colin astride his mini tractor harrowing a paddock, Biddy’s cheese and butter making activities, enamelling, and of course the model railway – fortuitously being viewed at the time by members of the Model Railway.

English to the hilt, Colin and Biddy undoubtedly are but their love of and loyalty to Eketahuna is unquestioned.
Therefore it goes without saying that their exposure to the nation is as much about promoting their home town and the Tararua district as it is about their own venture.
So sit back at 7pm on Saturday July 11, and prepare to be entertained.
