Fatal crash in Central District, 5:35pm

The Police serious crash team are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash in Taranaki on Thursday evening.

Shortly after 5.30pm a Ford Falcon with several teenaged occupants rolled on Rotokare Road, near State Highway 3 in Southern Taranaki.

A teenaged girl was taken to Taranaki Base hospital in critical condition, but died of her injuries later in the evening.

The girl was a back seat passenger and is not believed to have been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Further details regarding the deceased, will be made once Police have notified the next of kin.
