HAMILTON

The New Zealand Davis Cup team for the tie against Indonesia in Hamilton this week are in good form for their semifinal Asia/Oceania Group II tie.

The 10-12 July match at the Perry Arena in Hamilton will see the team of Dan King-Turner, Rubin Statham, GD Jones and Oliver Statham take on Indonesia who have lower ranked players. However last time the sides met in 2004 it was the Indonesians who won, although that match featured a significantly different home team in Jakarta.

King-Turner and Rubin Statham have both won Futures singles titles this year and made two finals each with King-Turner and Jones also claiming four doubles titles. Jones made the second round of singles at a US$50,000 Challenger in the US last week and Oliver Statham joins the team for the first time after his best year on the world circuit.

The Statham’s will join a small list of brothers who have played Davis Cup for New Zealand in modern times – the Parun’s, Simpson and the Lewis brothers

New Zealand Team in association with Greymouth Petroleum: Dan King-Turner, Rubin Statham, GD Jones, Oliver Statham, James Greenhalgh(team captain), Alistair Hunt(team manager), Andy Schmidt(physiotherapist).
Indonesia Team: Christopher Rungkat, Ayrton Wibowo, Sunu Wahyu Trijati, Ketut-Nesa Arta. Kresno Merdiko(team captain)
