Dunedin motorists are urged to take extreme care on Dunedin roads this morning, particularly around Waldronville, Green Island, Kaikorai Valley and the hill suburbs due to extremely icy road conditions.

Police are currently attending a crash on Kaikorai Valley Road at Burnside involving a milk tanker truck that occurred just after 6.30 am this morning. The truck driver escaped injury.

Police are also attending reports of three separate car crashes close to each other on Brighton Road, Waldronville near Allen Road. Ambulance Crews on the scene report treacherous, icy road conditions. One motorist has suffered minor neck and back injuries. Police ask motorists to take extreme care while emergency and council services work to clear the road.

And police have just received reports of up to 6 cars crashing into each other due to severe ice on Taieri Road near Wakari Road in the hills suburbs. There are no reports of injuries. Motorists should consider delaying their immediate travel plans if they were hoping to travel on Taieri Road in that area.

Dunedin City Council has dispatched grit trucks around and about the worse affected areas.
