Events at the Dargaville Town Hall on Sunday 30 August 2009 are shaping up to be a real treat for local music and food lovers.

The International Celebration Concert, which already features Russian born Kiwi singing sensation Yulia along with the acclaimed Hof Accordion Orchestra from Germany, now has another excellent act confirmed foot-stomping Celtic violin group Fiddleore, as well as a great new addition to the day, a free Taste Kaipara Event.

“The Town Hall will be buzzing all afternoon and into the evening,” says Kaipara District Council’s Community Development Facilitator, Heidi Dreyer.

“The Taste Kaipara event will kick off at 2.00 pm in the hall foyer. People will be able to tantalise their taste buds with some great local flavours, sample and buy cheeses, olives, wines, fruits and other delicious treats from around the District. Come and taste some great local produce all for free. Wine will be available by the glass or bottle for purchase.”

Lochiel Estate Wines, Millar’s Wines, Tara Iti Olives, Kaiwaka Cheese, Echo Valley Olives will be just some of the local cuisine on offer.

The International Celebration Concert, compeered by Dargaville’s own international accordionist Kevin Friedrich, will start at 3.30 pm, and all remaining tickets are $25.00.

“I am really excited to have Fiddleore joining the already fantastic line-up,” says Mrs Dreyer.

“They are an infectiously lively young group with an enormous amount of energy. They have appeared on New Zealand’s Got Talent, as well as performing at the Auckland Folk Festival and it is great to have them performing in Dargaville” says Mrs Dreyer.”

Fiddlelore features three young women, Grace Foote, Kathleen Wojcik, and Emily Roughton, who play Scottish fiddle with style and flair. They are accompanied by award-winning singer/guitarist Penelope Foote, who has been New Zealand’s Country Music Songwriter of the Year, as well as guitarist Mark Mazengarb who recently joined forces with the group after hearing them perform.

“There should be something for everyone at the International Celebration Concert, from the beautiful voice of Yulia to the fun sounds of the Hof Accordion Orchestra and Fiddleore, and with the addition of the Taste Kaipara Event people can make a real day of it,” says Mrs Dreyer

“Get your tickets now from AD Focus, come out and have an awesome time,” says Mrs Dreyer.
