A Short Films programme to screen over four evening and two matinee sessions, two additional programmes of longer length adventure movies offered over two extra nights and a photographic exhibition from award winning photographers Michael Langford and Jackie Rankin make up this year’s extended Adventure Film Festival.

Adventure Film Festival director Kirsten Nicholl says each of the films in the main line up have been selected for their celebration of the spirit of adventure and their genuine wow factor across multiple genres.

“The Short Films programme offers a truly amazing selection of films that celebrate adventures on snow, land, water and in the air. Most of these films are finalists or winners of various film festival awards and a reflection of the quality of the content we have managed to source for the festival, now in its 4th year.”

New this year are a further two nights offering films of greater length and with a more specific focus. The first Long Films programme screens on Monday 3 August and includes in the line up several films that offer a compelling insight into the mind of the extreme sports athlete. The second Long Films programme, screening on Tuesday 4th August, offers films taking the viewer on exciting journeys to fascinating places.

“These longer films are absolutely incredible. When we saw them and realised we couldn’t fit them into the Short Films programme because of their length, we just knew we had to create a special place for them within the festival.

“We strongly encourage people to get along to the main Short Films programme and then decide to go to either one or both of the Long Films evenings. They are inspiring, exciting and thought provoking stuff from far flung corners of the globe.

We are also pleased and privileged to be able to show the work of Mike Langford and Jackie Rankin both multiple award-winning photographers in recent times and are sure people will love to see their stunning photographic work covering amazing places, projects and adventures throughout the world.”

www.adventurefilmfest.com provides bios on and outlines awards won by most films in each of the three programmes with some content to be added in the next 72 hours. Ticket and pricing information is also available on the website. Each show will feature sponsor giveaways and prizes and there will be a cash bar before the show and during intermission.

The Adventure Film Festival opens on 30 July and runs until 4 August.
