Both groups of 46 have played their first two and a half hours of play and are coming together as a group of 60 to play until the numbers reach 18. In the first session 28 of 46 players made it through to compete in the remainder of Day 2 and in the second session 32 made it through to play in the remainder of Day 2.

Notable exits so far in today’s field include kiwi poker player Dan Sing, Melbourne professional Celina Lin and Sydney professional Grant Levy.

Executive Manager of SKYCITY Queenstown, Michelle Baillie is happy with today’s play.

“Day two has been a busy day with 91 starters this morning and some really skilled players. It’s definitely going to be an exciting final on Saturday and we encourage people in Queenstown to come along to watch the winner take away close to $90,000 in the first NZPT Queenstown event.”

Play is due to continue late into the night or until 18 players remain. Players will come back at 12:30pm tomorrow (Saturday) where they will play for part of the $301,500 prize pool on offer.

The next big event on the New Zealand poker calendar is the SKYCITY Festival of Poker which is held at SKYCITY Auckland from 14-18 October. See www.skycity.co.nz/poker for more details.
