It was in 1959 that Sir Cliff Richard first recorded and performed with The Shadows.

In 2009, exactly 50 years later, Cliff and The Shadows will be back on the road for their final tour.

The tour will bring them to New Zealand in February 2010 for the very first time, as a group, since 1961. Cliff and The Shadows will play the TSB Bowl of Brooklands in New Plymouth on Saturday 27 February 2010.

Tickets go on sale on Friday 14 August from www.ticketek.co.nz or 0800 TICKETEK

The last time Sir Cliff Richard played at the Bowl was in 1998, alongside Olivia Newton-John and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.

“That show has gone down in the Bowl’s history as one of the largest-ever concerts, with 16,000 people travelling from throughout New Zealand to be there,” says Manager Business Development Events, Garry Sharpe-Young.

“The TSB Bowl of Brooklands is the most beautiful outdoor venue in New Zealand, and we are thrilled that Sir Cliff has chosen to come back here.”

Cliff and The Shadows dominated the British popular music scene in the late ’50s and early ’60s, enjoying both solo and joint success.

Between them they achieved no fewer than 19 No.1 hits, including; ‘Living Doll’, It’s All In The Game’, ‘Travellin’ Light’, ‘Bachelor Boy’, ‘Wonderful Land‘ and ‘Apache’. They appeared together in the movies ‘Summer Holiday’ and ‘The Young Ones’ from which came million-selling hit singles and albums.

From 1968 both artists pursued individual careers. Throughout the ’70’s and ’80’s The Shadows toured regularly and enjoyed Top 10 successes, often competing with Cliff for the number one spot.

Cliff went on to achieve huge worldwide success as a solo artist, scoring the most Top 10 and Top 20 hits in the UK singles Chart. He remains the only UK artist ever to achieve a number one single in five consecutive decades.

Fifty years on Cliff Richard, Hank Marvin, Bruce Welch and Brian Bennett take to the stage together for the very last time on this tour. Don’t miss it!
