Hall dominates Adaptive Snow Sports Festival Championships

Snow Sports New Zealand Athlete of the Year, Alpine Ski Racer Adam Hall, dominated the New Zealand Adaptive Snow Sports Festival held at Cardrona this week.

The 21 year old from Wanaka, who is ranked number two in the world in slalom, won the Slalom, Giant Slalom (GS) and Super G races.

Hall, 21, of Wanaka, who has been the Disabled National Slalom Champion for the last four years, was pleased with his results as he looks towards the Southern Hemisphere’s major winter event, the 100% Pure New Zealand Winter Games that starts on 21 August in Central Otago and Dunedin.

Hall, along with his Coach Hiro Taniguchi, now train at Mt Hutt for two weeks, then travel to Mt Dobson for a week before returning to Wanaka for the Winter Games.

The Disabled Snowsports National Championships featured the first World Snowboard Federation (WSF) Adaptive Snowboard World Championships.

Hall accumulated 13 medals, including silver and bronze at the International Paralympics committee (IPC) World Cup finals, and a silver at the World Championships during the last 12 months.

The Atomic sponsored skier, who is also the Adaptive Snow Sports Athlete of the Year, has set his sights on Gold at next year’s Paralympic Games.

“It’s great for Adam as we know how hard he works and we give him all the support we can so he is in the best possible position to achieve his goals.”
