Lower Hutt Police Investigate Arsons

Lower Hutt Police are investigating three arson attacks in the past week.

On Friday 7 August a fire was lit at the Avalon Scout Hall, where a scout camp was due to start that night.  Food and equipment stored at the hall for the camp was unsalvageable due to the fire.

On Saturday 8 August the derelict building which was the former Petone Technical Institute was set alight.

Both fires were lit in the early hours of the morning and cars were heard leaving the areas.

A third fire was lit on Tuesday 11 August causing damage to a deck and wall at a house in Petone.  No-one was injured.

Anyone with information about these arsons is asked to call Lower Hutt Police on 04 560 2600 and ask for either Detective Sergeant Scott Cooper or Detective Nicole Wilkinson.
