A luxury designer four-bedroom Auckland home with its own wine cellar and heated swimming pool has sold for $3.75million – one of the highest prices paid for a residential property under the auctioneer’s hammer in New Zealand this year.
The 346 square-metre Herne Bay home attracted considerable interest when it went under the auctioneer’s hammer at Bayleys Real Estate’s offices this month. The property was marketed by Bayleys sales consultant Deb Purdy.
Bidding started at $2.9million and leapt up before settling at $3.75million.The buyers – who wish to remain anonymous – are a retired couple who look forward to sharing the stylish residence with their children and grandchildren.
Bayleys sales agent Deb Purdy says the Marine Parade home overlooking the Waitemata Harbour was one of the most luxurious properties she had ever sold – with oak flooring, underfloor heating throughout, two laundries, a marble bathroom, large office space, and stylish outdoor dining area with a sizeable gas fire.
Bayleys Auckland residential manager Rachel Dovey said the multi-million dollar auction
result was a positive indication that well marketed housing stock - supported by realistic price expectations from the vendor – was still selling, despite the economic climate.
“There are still plenty of well-funded potential residential property buyers in the market place who are waiting patiently for quality homes to come onto the market, and are ready to make quick decisions when they spy their dream home,” Ms Dovey said.
