About 10:20am on Thursday 27 August 2009 a BMW Motor vehicle lost control on a sharp bend and collided with a parked car near the intersection of Pipiwai and Matarau Roads.

The 39 year old male driver of the vehicle died at the scene.

No other persons where involved.

The Northland Serious Crash Unit and the Whangarei Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

The death has been reported to the Northland Coroner.

The name of the deceased will not be released until next of kin have been notified.
