ARROWTOWN

The Arrowtown Volunteer Fire Brigade is holding an open day and an educational initiative on Sunday 4th October from 12 noon till 3pm. The purpose of the Open Day is to promote fire safety and awareness by inviting the community to get involved with their local brigade. The Arrowtown volunteers will have fire hazard displays, fire fighting equipment and information to help residents be more aware of fire safety. Harcourts Arrowtown are major sponsors coming on board to offer free smoke alarms for qualifying Arrowtown Senior Citizens, where installation will be undertaken by the Arrowtown Fire Brigade members. This initiative will establish a register, so that the Brigade can actively support residents who require assistance to check and change smoke alarm batteries on a regular basis.

As part of the open day, the NZ Police and St John Ambulance have agreed to participate, and the Arrowtown Scout Group will be providing a sausage sizzle. A car boot sale will be incorporated to help raise funds for smoke alarm batteries for future replacement. Any one who has considered joining the Arrowtown Volunteer Fire Brigade, or would like to give assistance in some way, is welcome to come along and discuss these options further.
