SAR on Mt Cook

 A search is underway in the Aoraki Mt Cook Village area after a 32 year old Malaysian Tourist was reported missing from the YHA. He was last seen mid afternoon yesterday at the Youth Hostel.

He indicted two locations near the village that he wanted to visit including the Red Tarns Track and The Hooker Valley. He failed to catch his bus this morning at 10.00am. His bed was unslept in and his bags and personal items were located in his room.

18 searchers from Land SAR, Department of Conservation and a Civilian Dog Handler are currently looking for Mr Kok Wong. A helicopter search has also been conducted.

The weather last night was fine and frosty. It was fine today but the forecast is for it to deteriorate tonight and tomorrow.

If Mr Wong is lightly clad and there are fears held for his safety.
