About 7.20 pm on 9/10/9 a car went across the centre line on Whangarei Heads Rd, at Fishermans Point, Whangarei.
An ongoing vehicle hit it and it went off the road and fell down a seawall about 1.5m high onto a pebble beach.
A male rear seat passenger dies in the crash.
The Serious Crash Unit attended and did a scene examination.
