Abducted Baby recovered with Vehicle

A 7 month old female child was abducted when the vehicle she was in was stolen from Victoria Ave Wanganui.

The incident occurred at 1220 am today while the mother of the child was visiting a nearby money machine.
Police were called immediately and an intensive search was undertaken.

The child was located un-harmed in the vehicle 45 minutes later in Wanganui City.

Police are investigating the incident and will be undertaking a forensic examination of the recovered vehicle.
Mother and child have been re-unitied and are recovering.
