Fatal crash near Reoproa

At about 2115hrs tonight, a two car collision occurred in SH 5 in the vicinity of the Reporoa area. Each vehicle had a sole occupant in it. As a result of the accident, one person has died and the other taken to Rotorua hospital with moderate injuries. Shortly after, two other vehilces have crashed into the accident scene sustaining minor damage to their vehicles and minor injuries to their persons. Police and ambulance are in attendance.

State Highway 5 is this area is currently closed. Traffic is being re-directed into Waikeri Valley Rd heading south, through to Corbett and continue onto Reid Rd. Reid will take traffic onto Waikaukau which will come out in SH 30. A right turn will take them to Rotorua and left will loop them back to SH 1.
