Don’t panic if you see someone watching your parking patterns in our CBD’s over the next few weeks.

Franklin District Council has commissioned a parking survey so Franklin’s current and future parking needs can be met.

Franklin District Council GM Works and Services Barry Bergin says, “The information collected by the surveyors will be used for the Franklin Transport Strategy, a document that Franklin District Council is currently writing that will guide the development of safe and easy transport for the district over the next 30 years.”

“The surveyors will be investigating parking patterns in both publicly-owned and privately-owned business car parks in Pukekohe, Tuakau and Waiuku. The information could then be used to determine for example, how many parking spaces are needed to be developed in future and in what areas.”

Parking surveys will be undertaken on Thursday’s and Saturday’s between the hours of 8am – 6pm in Waiuku on 12 and 14 November, Pukekohe on 19 and 21 November and Tuakau on 26 and 28 November.

The surveyors will be wearing an identification badge and will have a letter from Franklin District Council confirming their role.
