PORT CHALMERS

At approximately 11.25am on Sunday the 15th of November 2009 a partially submerged dingy was located in Deborah Bay near Port Chalmers, Dunedin.

Marine Search and Rescue were alerted and a short time later a body was located in the water in the Deborah Bay area. The body is that of a male. It is believed that the male may have been attempting to row to a yacht moored in the bay sometime after midnight on the 15th of November.

The body was retrieved by Police and Ambulance staff along with members of the Port Chalmers Fire Brigade.

No further details of the deceased are available at this time until next of kin have been notified.

There don't appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and the matter has been referred to the coroner.
