It’s about the children.

In the light of tomorrow’s March for Democracy in Auckland, Plunket is urging people to think of the children.

While so much of the public debate has centred on the referendum result and the rights of adults, Plunket wants people to remember the retention of the Child Discipline Law is about providing an environment to support the best outcomes for children.

“Plunket, along with a host of respected and credible child-focused organisations, believes the law should remain the way it is. All the evidence that supported our stance in the beginning remains valid,” Plunket President Carol Becker says.

“It was our grassroots volunteers that first started Plunket on this journey to educate people on the repeal of the Child Discipline Law.

“We remain unwavering in our stance. We will stay the course and stand strong for the children, and urge others to do so.”

Alongside the Ministry of Social Development’s SKIP (Strategies with Kids Information for Parents) programme, Plunket has developed many valuable free resources promoting love, care and protection of all New Zealand children over physical discipline.
