FEILDING

ENROLMENTS for the Feilding Public Library’s two summer reading programmes, Read Plus and Dive into Books, open next week and early registration is advised.

Children’s Librarian, Jennie Hogan, said the free Eastern and Central Community Trust-sponsored holiday programmes were always popular and she was looking forward to hosting a large number of participants this year.

The Read Plus programme for children 11 years and above has 80 spots available and will run from Monday, December 7, to Thursday, January 14. A minimum of three book reviews are required for entrants to earn a new paperback and there are also chances to win a pen or a $25 “prezzy” card.

Writer and storyteller Mary Kippenberger will be on hand for registration night at 5.30pm next Tuesday (December 1) and will be loaded down with games and chocolate. She will return for the fun finale on Tuesday, January 12.

Up to 300 children aged four to 11 are expected to be involved in the Dive into Books programme from December 7 to January 15 which involves numerous activities and entertainment. Enrolments for this programme open at 5.30pm next Wednesday.

Ms Hogan said early registration was encouraged, “as we always get good numbers and good completion rates for the programmes”.
