DANNEVIRKE

A reserve management plan is being prepared for the Dannevirke Domain, a recreation reserve administered by the Council.

The Domain was established in 1884 and is a significant public asset of Dannevirke. The reserve management plan will provide direction for the management of the Domain, as well as allow community input into future uses and developments. It is prepared under the Reserves Act 1977.

The Council resolved its intention to prepare this new reserve management plan on 9 December 2009.

A public notice calling for initial comments was advertised on 21 December 2009 and interested people and organisations were invited to provide written ideas and suggestions for the future use, development and management of the Domain.

These initial comments will help the Council prepare a draft reserve management plan that will be open to formal submissions in April / May 2010.

Initial comments close on 12 February 2010. A discussion document providing information about the Domain and its history is available from Colin Veale on Ph. (06) 374 4080.
