The inaugural Kumeu Art in the Garden festival has delivered a windfall to the West Auckland Hospice and Kumeu Huapai Volunteer Fire Rescue.

``The 2009 event was a huge success with a near capacity crowds moving through the six award winning gardens filled with nearly artists.

Event organiser Graham McIntyre said almost 1000 people explored six of the area’s top award winning gardens and view a range of art works over two days.

Proceeds of the event $9000 were split equally between the West Auckland Hospice and Kumeu Huapai Volunteer Fire Rescue and money will be spent on operational costs and equipment.

The second annual event is set down for November 6 and 7. All proceeds will go to charity.
