Traffic lights out - Eastern suburbs, Manukau

17:27 - The traffic lights went out on some of the major arterial routes in the eastern suburbs of Manukau about 4.30 pm this afternoon.

Te Irirangi Rd, Chappell Rd, Ti Rakau Rd, Highbrook Drive and other major arterial routed were left without traffic lights.

Police are on points duty at some of the major intersections.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area if they can.
