Woman talked off bridge by police

At about 7pm on the 12th February 2010 Police were called by a passing member of the public who advised that a woman had climbed onto the northern rail of the Fairfield Bridge and was threatening to jump off.

Upon arrival Polive found a young women in a distressed state clinging to a lamppost whilst standing on the rail.

The Police boat was launched but was stood down after the women was spoken to by attending Police and coaxed down from her position.

The bridge was closed off for a short period of time.

A 16 year old woman was returned safely to her parents.
