Equipment to stay in place in case of future need.

Thames-Coromandel District Council has been advised that further monitoring of the Pitoone landslide at Kuaotunu's Cuvier Crescent is no longer required, although five yearly reviews should be carried out to ensure the ongoing safety of local properties.

This is good news for the property owners in the area, who have had to pay a special rate for monitoring of the stability of the affected land. Council borrowed to fund the investigation work and the loan will be repaid in 2013.

TCDC Strategic Relationships Manager Peter Wishart says residents are being advised of the outcome of the final round of monitoring in November 2009 and copies of the technical reports associated with the monitoring programme have been posted on the TCDC website www.tcdc.govt.nz.
