Fatal Crash - State Highway 2/Otanga Road near Dannevirke - 7th April 2010

A two-year-old girl, her 36 year old father and a woman aged 73 have died and two others are in a serious condition, after a two-car crash on State Highway 2 north of Dannevirke.
The crash happened about 9.50pm just north of the intersection of State Highway 2 and Otanga Road.
The injured, including the deceased girl's mother who was in a serious condition, were flown by rescue helicopter to Palmerston North Hospital.
A police spokesman said the accident appeared to be a head-on crash and all victims are from the Tararua District. The police serious crash unit is investigating.
The road remained closed until about 1.30am this morning.
The identities of the deceased will not be released until they have been formally identified and relatives have been informed.
