Paengaroa crash

Police have closed a section of SH33 2kms north of Paengaroa in the Bay of Plenty as they investigate a fatal crash. A short diversion is in place along SH2 and Wilson Road South, back onto SH33.

Ambulance were called at 7.00pm with a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle on the highway near the intersection with McKenzie Road. The male pedestrian died at the scene.

Initial reports indicate that the vehicle involved did not stop however police have located the vehicle they believe was involved and the driver is assisting police investigating the incident.

Serious Crash staff based at Greerton are dealing with the crash and the investigation.
